The agenda of these articles seems quite transparent: to stifle the inclination to partake, so as to reverse the embarrassing increases in partakers of recent years. -

Gorby, I'm repeating this from an earlier similar thread, but it bears mention here: According to an interesting article in the Italian ex-jw website Geova.org, the scriptures suggest that the bread passed around at the last supper was not the unleavened matzoh of the Jewish Passover (azuma in Greek) but rather the common everyday generic leavened loaf (arton) . This is true in all three Gospel references to the Last Supper of Matthew 26:26, Mark 14:22 and Luke 22:19. It's the same word employed in Matthew 4:4 when Satan urged Jesus to turn stones into bread (arton) and Matt. 7:9 when God would never give a child asking for bread a stone. Moreover there's no reference to the use of wine, in the Exodus Passover. There's no mention in the Gospels of the traditional lamb and bitter greens in the Last Supper either. -

I noticed the three bovines loitering around the Watchtower buildings; I guess they're charged with the production of "new light." -

Excellent point, Dunedain, one I've often thought about making but never got around to it. The old guard were dyed-in-the-wool Bethelites from their youth, shaped by and accustomed to the pervasive, rigorous work ethic and Spartan lifestyle of the place. Even the best of them were subject to censure or tongue lashings by Rutherford or any lesser taskmaster on the slightest pretext. I recall one old-timer recounted how the the young Knorr worked in the factory like he was driven. In contrast, this current lot is exactly as Dunedain described above, soft and used to being cosseted and fawned over, admired by the locals. -

The March JW broadcast, presented by paedophile enabler Geoffery Jackson
by jambon1 inall warm and fluffy this month after the utterly laughable 'bread' broadcast.
.
i'll always be grateful to the australian royal commission for allowing us to see this duplicitous, lying, creep, shown up as a snivelling, suck up, asshole, taken completely out of his self appointed authoritarian comfort zone.. anyway, a not too interesting broadcast i have to say..

Geoffrey Jackson quote
by Labate inmany posters quote geoffrey jackson as saying " it would be presumptuous" to say that the gb is jehovah's sole spokesperson on earth.. what he actually said was that "it would seem to be quite presumptuous".
this is actually very clever, as adding "seem" to the sentence leaves the possibility that it isn't presumptuous to call themselves "jehovah's sole channel".
(at least in their eyes).

How did you feel when they eliminated the Con. Book Study?
by Freeandclear inyears ago when i was "in" i loved the book study.
it was my favorite meeting by far.
mainly because it was a small group.

There was a lot of post-meeting banter among the friends who hung around after the closing prayer for cookies, etc. which I think unnerved the control freaks. Looking back it's another step in the "top-down" plan to centralize and inhibit individual expression. -

Un-****ing-Believable
by OneFingerSalute injust a few observations from this morning.
.. this morning as i was trying to choke back the bile that kept wanting to come up during the wt study one comment in particular screamed cult.. towards the very end as comments were being made about "counseling" others with "gracious" words one of the uber-dub minstral-serpents made this comment, "we see in the last image that the brother is holding a bible as he counsels the other brother.
we look closely at the picture and we can know exactly what he is counseling the brother about.
